Country lanes are narrow and many villa drives are unpaved. A mid-size SUV handles both; a large saloon will scrape. For groups, two smaller cars beat one big one.

Insurance

Take the full cover. Wing mirrors and alloy wheels are the island''s most common casualties, and excess charges are steep.

Parking

Use the underground car parks in Ibiza Town and Santa Eulalia. In August, beach car parks are full by eleven.

Booking

Rentals sell out in July and August, and prices climb sharply in the final weeks. Reserve with the villa, not after it, through car services.
