Fabulous Formentera – Black Book Ibiza’s Dream Day Trip

So, pretty much everyone on the planet has heard of Ibiza and all the island has to offer, the parties, the beaches, the inimitable vibe. However, those in the know will also be aware that Ibiza has a little sister, a smaller yet equally, some would say more beautiful island, named Formentera.

This little piece of paradise is just 3 nautical miles away from Ibiza, however, you could be forgiven for thinking you have sailed into the Caribbean as you approach, the sparkling turquoise waters are so crystal clear, they are guaranteed to take your breath away every time.

A private boat is quite simply the very best way to arrive to Formentera in style. Do you prefer the high octane thrills of a super sleek speedboat, or the smooth, timeless elegance of a sailing yacht. Or perhaps a luxury cruiser? Whatever your preference there are an abundance of beautiful boats just waiting to whisk you off for a day of indulgence.

Setting sail from Ibiza Town is a truly unforgettable experience, the sight of the majestic Old Town behind you as you depart is breathtaking. As you sail away from Ibiza, you will feel your cares and worries slip away, as you enjoy drinks and food on board with friends or family.

We love to tale a pitstop at the island of Es Palmador, which has some of the clearest waters you could dream of, and take a swim or snorkel here to refresh your bodies after soaking up the healing Ibiza sun. The braver ones amongst you may wish to swim to the shore and visit the natural mudbaths here, which are said to have healing properties!

Back on board, it’s time to reach Formentera herself, and as the island comes into view, you can marvel at its sheer rugged beauty and the dazzling colour of the waters. You may also find yourself entranced by the selection of incredible boats moored around you, some of the most beautiful boats in the world regularly visit this tiny island.

So, time to indulge in a spot of lunch. For a relatively small island, Formentera is blessed with an abundance of fabulous beach bars and clubs, the only problem you’ll have is choosing which one to dine at! Possibly the most famous is Juan Y Andrea, a truly iconic destination, where its not unusual to see supermodels rubbing shoulders with world class footballers, and even the King of Spain himself has dined here. Their menu is full of freshly caught fish and local delicacies and its one of the finest restaurants on the island.

For a more relaxed, boho vibe, we adore Beso Beach, a more relaxed venue which is also better if you’re on a budget. This chic beach bar is welcoming yet elegant, and invites you to enjoy that feet in the sand, carefree vibe which the island is so famous for. The paella here is simply divine, and we are also rather fond of their cava sangria, which tops off the whole experience beautifully!

Back to the boat and as reluctant as you will be to leave Formentera, the journey home is simply breathtaking, try to time your return to capture the sight of the setting sun, an experience you’ll never forget. If you simply can’t bear the day to finish just yet, why not ask your skipper to sail up to the legendary Blue Marlin beachclub on the shores of Cala Jondal, where their tender service will carry you to the beach, where you can enjoy a final cocktail. We can’t think of a better way to end a perfect day.

Here at Black Book Ibiza we have a wealth of contacts with the very best, fully licensed boat charter companies on the island, and can assist you in finding the perfect craft for your day at sea.. We can also take care of your restaurant reservations, leaving you free to enjoy the simply sensational Formentera experience.
