Discover Black Book Ibiza’s Hidden Gems

Discover Black Book Ibiza’s Hidden Gems. Here at Black Book Ibiza, our innate understanding and experience of the island which we live, love and work on has gifted us with an unrivalled knowledge of the very best places to eat, drink, swim and of course, party! On this week´s blog we reveal some of our most loved island haunts, all of which are relatively unknown.. so remember, don´t tell a soul!

The Boat House

As you descend down the winding road to Cala San Vicente, the sight of the turquoise, crystal clear waters and the sheer beauty of the bay is a sight which we guarantee will stay with you for a lifetime. And for those in the know, there is a fabulous new beach bar where you can lose yourself in the beauty of this most welcoming of locations. The Boat House is the newest offering from the team behind the much loved ´On the Beach´ bar and restaurant which has been delighting visitors to Cala San Vicente for almost a decade. The Boat House has the same level of excellent service and food, yet with a slightly more refined, luxurious feel. The interior design is ingenious, expertly blending solid oak furniture, with stylish touches such as cushions adorned with anchors and mermaids creating a nautical theme, hence the name. The relaxed, boho chic vibe is sublimely seductive and you can easily while away a whole afternoon lounging on one of the inviting sofas or hammocks, sampling their excellent and diverse menu, and of course a cocktail or two. The Boat House is high on our list of Ibiza´s hidden gems.

.

The Fish Shack

This rustic seafront bar and restaurants has no official name, but it is known and loved by most islanders and visitors as The Fish Shack. Located on the shores of Sa Punta, Talamanca, this is truly a no frills, real Ibiza experience. Simple yet charming, there are no VIP daybeds or linen napkins here, you sit on plastic chairs and tables, yet the authenticity and the view makes it simply worthwhile. And of course, the fish! There is no menu here, simply the freshest catch of the day, expertly grilled to perfection and served with traditional potato and tomato salad. If there is a better place in Ibiza to dine on sublime seafood then we´ve yet to find it.

Hostal  la Torre

This divine destination is an absolute must do in our opinion. Having enjoyed a complete revamp a few years ago, don´t be fooled by the name, it´s much, much more than a simple ´Hostal´. The prime location on the cliffside of Cap Negret, is just a few minutes’ drive from the resort of San Antonio, but feels like a whole world away. Romantic, secluded and stylish, this idyllic hangout simply oozes style and luxury. It also boasts one of the finest sunset views on Ibiza, and we can think of nowhere better to watch the magical sight of the sun setting into the sea as you sip a sundowner and reflect on another perfect Ibizan day. The charming restaurant is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner and serves an eclectic selection of healthy and traditional dishes. Should you fall in love with it so much that you decide to make a night of it, then simply take your pick from any of their sumptuously styled bedrooms, all of which offer a private terrace. A sensational secret sunset location.

Finca Can Suldat

It´s not easy to find this particular favourite spot of ours, which makes it a truly ´hidden´gem. However, take the road from Santa Eulalia towards Es Cana, and you will discover the magical Finca Can Suldat. This enchanting bar and restaurant quite simply epitomises the spirit of Ibiza. The eccentric and charismatic owner Peter brings his own inimitable flair and flamboyance to enhance this lovingly transformed old finca (traditional Ibicencan house). The menu features many traditional Swiss dishes, a not to Peter´s Swiss roots,, and we can think of no other place on the island where you can indulge in a truly mouthwatering cheese fondue. The signature steak dish is simply sublime, however, don´t ask for the recipe for the sensational seasoning, it´s a closely guarded secret. The garden is a wonderfully beguiling spot to enjoy in the summer, and during the winter months the open fire and quirky interior make it an eternally popular spot for both visitors and island residents.
