BBI´s Top 5 Chiringuitos on Ibiza

The traditional definition of a ´chiringuito´ is a small shack serving drinks and snacks, usually located on or near to a beach. They are also known by other nicknames, for example, in Catalan a ´guingueta´, or, in Spanish slang, a ´xiringuito´. However, in recent years, the rise of the number of upmarket, elegant and charming chiringuitos have beguiled and bewitched us with their luxurious take on the traditional shacks.

Babylon Beach – Santa Eulalia

An elegant and eclectic vibe makes Babylon Beach one of our ultimate chiringuito choices. We can´t decide if it’s the uninterrupted view across the bay of Punta Sa Caleta, the organic, extensive menu or excellent cocktail list which we love most.  Since its opening in 2012, this has become quite simply the coolest hangout in the North. Offering a purpose built children’s adventure playground, Babylon is perfect for party people and families alike. The eclectic boutique, La Collective, is sublimely stocked with bohemian delights including swimwear, clothing and accessories, perfect for a spot of retail therapy after a long lazy lunch!

Utopia

This idyllic spot simply has to be seen to be believed. The name Utopia couldn’t be more apt for this heavenly spot, hidden away from the madding crowds in a secluded cove just a few kilometres away from the bay of San Miguel.  A small but perfectly formed white washed shack holds only 12 tables, where diners are offered a daily changing menu, based on the freshest catch of fish of finest cut of meat available that day. A family affair, the welcome is always warm, and once you have satisfied your appetites, you can relax on one of their divine daybeds listening only to the sound of the waves crashing onto the shore.

Sunset Ashram – Cala Comte

As you may guess by the name, this sublime spot is one of the islands most loved sunset destinations. Idyllically located overlooking the sparkling waters of the bay of Cala Comte, Sunset Ashram is an iconic destination which has been attracting sunset lovers for many years. The circular open air terrace offers unforgettable views, and the sparkling, turquoise waters are simply begging to be dipped into. The bay of Cala Comte is just ten minutes drive from the bustling resort of San Antonio, but feels like a million miles away , this is a real slice of Ibiza heaven. This excellent chiringuito is always extremely busy, especially in high season, so let us handle your reservation for you to ensure you get the best sunset spot.

Sa Trinxa – Salinas

One of the original and most loved chiringuitos , Sa Trinxa has been the favourite haunt of the  bohemian and eclectic crowd for over two decade. This legendary  small shack at the far end of Salinas beach attracts a loyal crowd year after year who come to chill, eat and drink the day away on this most beautiful of beaches.  Named after the resident DJ and founder Jon Sa Trinxa, the tunes and the vibe are always relaxed, reviving and reflect the ´real´ Ibiza.

El Chiringuito – Es Cavallet

Last, but by no means least, an absolute must do on our list is the ever elegant El Chiringuito. Their ethos is that nothing is impossible, and the dedication, attention and care which goes into everything they do is surely the secret to their success. Nothing is ever too much trouble here, and you can expect superb service, exquisite food and an inimitable ambience everytime.  This luxurious venue is a firm favourite amongst visiting celebrities and supermodels. We love to go here for a cheeky cocktail or two before heading to DC10!

So, make the most of these balmy October days and enjoy a long leisurely lunch at any of these fabulous five chiringuitos. At Black Book Ibiza, we are on hand to ensure your reservations are handled expertly, leaving you free to enjoy the view! Email us today on info@blackbookibiza.com
